Sugarglass develops and produces the work of award-winning theatre artists Marc Atkinson Borrull and Molly O'Cathain.
Marc Atkinson Borrull is a Catalan/Irish director and Molly O'Cathain is a Swedish/Irish designer. Together and independently, our work has been seen across Irish theatre and on stages around the world. We work as a duo, creating work where design is integral from the very outset, focused on Irish premieres of the best international writing and radically contemporary adaptations of classics.
Both of us moved to Ireland at ten years of age and grew up simultaneously inside and outside the culture. We bring this to our work — drawing on our backgrounds to create theatre for an 'Irish now' that also looks outward.
We believe in the unique power and 'fellow-feeling' of a large audience reacting together. We choose titles that audiences have heard of and present them in ways that feel startlingly new and true to our moment. We aim to disrupt the structural barriers to young artists and audiences engaging with classics.
